Our family of 10 celebrated my 70th birthday (September 3) at Villa de Oso and included Matt and Deb and their children Madeline and Hayden; Jim and Sara and their children Cody and Thomas.

Jim found the Villa online and convinced us all to go. He and Sara LOVE Sayulita and have visited several times. Chris and I had never been to Mexico. The oppressive heat and humidity affected Chris and me. We are Northern Californians. We had heard that it would be hot but WOW!

So the Villa was beyond beautiful! We were immensely grateful for the air conditioning in all the cool marbled spaces. We could relax in the white cushioned spaces indoors or out and appreciate the artful meso American décor.

The setting of the Villa is breathtaking. From waking in the Master Bedroom we could watch dolphins in the sea! At times there were as many as 5 iguanas doing maneuvers in the extensive grounds, a brown heron like bird seemed to be a resident there and once we observed him taking a siesta on the wall outside the kitchen window-like a horse asleep on his feet. At times butterflies fluttered like confetti, crabs caused alarm but turned into a learning lesson and the geckos… we recognized from Hawaii. All creatures so beautiful!

Few bugs and no mosquitoes. Good!

In architecture school we were impressed with the fundamental that siting is the most important part of design. The Villa is so well sited. The round marble staircase that takes you in and down or up and out makes you feel the hill and is the connection to the terraces and sweeping gorgeous views expertly framed by the mature landscaping. Perfect outdoor/indoor life!

I can’t understate how wonderful the staff was. The fine white linens..(my faves) were immaculate-every day! All the areas very tidy and clean, clean, clean. The flower bouquets !!! The superb meals cooked with love and served to our table of 10 on the lanai will be a treasured memory. Such kind and sweet people to care for us.

So thanks again for all. We felt safe….warm and wonderful! Westover Family from California
